HTC One M9 Developer Edition began receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop over-the-air. Sporting the software number 2.6.651.11, the the new firmware brings a number of essential improvements to the flagship smartphone.

With Android 5.1, HTC One M9 will get data performance and call drop enhancements. Battery life of the device has also been improved.

Even more importantly, the camera of the HTC One M9 has received a number of optimizations with the update. The temperature management of the device has also been tweaked in order handle that Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset better.

The Android 5.1 update for the Developer Edition HTC One M9 is a tad smaller than 800MB. If you are an owner of such device, head over to its settings menu to check if the new firmware is available.

Alleged photos showcasing a duo of unannounced Xiaomi smartphones made the rounds online. There is no word on the devices’ names, though one could be the successor of Xiaomi Mi 4, while the other might be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.


The purported Xiaomi Mi 5 features a rather interesting dual-camera setup on its back with dual-LED flash. Overall, the device’s design language appears to follow closely that of the model it is rumored to replace.


The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 image on the other hand, reveals a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, right under its camera and LED flash. The photo falls in line with a past leak that revealed the same setup.

you might have noticed an increased (but unintentional) focus on new devices being released by Chinese OEMs. This is because a lot of these devices are actually great pieces of tech for the average price-conscious consumer, someone who focuses on features as much as the “bling factor” of the device while making his purchase.


However, looking at a developer community point of view, products from China haven’t been a top focus for developers for good reason. Companies from China have been some of the worst offenders of the GPL, often skipping releases altogether or delaying them for reasons that do not make sense.

Xiaomi does look like it is trying to improve on this aspect, with the latest being the release of the kernel source code for the Mi 4i. Packing a Snapdragon 615 with 2GB RAM and a FHD 5.5″ display along with a 13MP rear camera, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is available for a price tag of Rs. 12,999 ($205), making it a rather appealing purchase. The availability of kernel source code will definitely remove the device from the blacklist of power users.

This is certainly great news for consumers who have had to wait for almost 2 months after the device release to receive the kernel source code. We do believe that in this case, it is better late than never.

Xiaomi in on a roll - just five years into its existence, it has already become a force to be reckoned, even managing to claim the honorable title of world's third largest smartphone manufacturer in Q3 last year. Previous reports indicated more amazing sales numbers for the first half of 2015, which today the Chinese company officially confirmed.



34.7 million Xiaomi smartphones were sold during the first six months of the year. This constitutes a 33% increase over the same period in 2014. These are definitely numbers worth bragging about. It is also worth noting that Xiaomi has been doing quite well with the rest of its diverse product lineup. The company is constantly expanding its portfolio with smart home appliances, network and storage equipment and various small gadgets and accessories, all marketed with competitive price tags and an Apple-like approach to style and brand-recognition.

With powerful budget-friendly offers, such as the Xiaomi Mi 4i and surprisingly nice high-end devices, like the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, it comes as no surprise that the company is running circles around most other Chinese brands. And with eagerly-anticipated devices, such as the Mi 5 flagship on the horizon, as well as a constant push to expand to new markets, the future is definitely looking bright for Xiaomi.

The Apple iPhone 6s family will feature 12MP main cameras according to leaked images on Weibo by alleged Foxconn employee. The photos have subsequently been removed from the account.


The camera unit has reportedly been optimized to shoot 4K video and slow-motion footage at 240 frames per second. Previous rumors suggested that Apple might opt for a 16MP unit in the iPhone 6 successor.

With internal model numbers N66 for iPhone 6s and N71 for iPhone 6s Plus, both models will pack 2GB of RAM, 5MP front camera, and LTE Category 6 modem.

The successors of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have reportedly entered early production. Apple is expected to launch the duo in September.

Asus will soon announce a new, budget-friendly ZenFone series smartphone, according to the latest rumor out of the company's home country of Taiwan.


Dubbed ZenFone Go ZC500TG, the device will be powered by a MediaTek SoC with quad-core processor, and sport a 5-inch HD display. It will come with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. In terms of camera, the handset will feature an 8MP rear unit and a 2MP front shooter.

The rumor also says that the ZenFone Go will just offer 3G connectivity with no 4G LTE support, and could be announced before the end of this month. Needless to say, none of this has been officially confirmed by Asus, so take it with a pinch of salt.
